Librarian’s Report:

  • There were two leaks in the library’s roof. Curt Erwin came out to repair them. He said the old roof was put on in 2017 and still looks good, but one area needs attention. Susan gave him the go ahead to work on it.
  • We have some lights out in the canopy and the monument sign. Susan has contacted FW Electric about this.
  • The two metal NO TRESPASSING signs are looking worn. Susan has ordered new ones.
  • Our maintenance people for the library put out new mulch around different spots on the library grounds that needed it.
  • Cards for Kids issue – Our attourney has sent a letter to the lady who has over $700.00+ worth of library books. The letter states that whe will need to bring them back by May 19th or could take her to small claims court after that. We decided to proceed with this if she doesn’t return them. We need to set a precedent with an issue like this.
  • The break-in on Saunday didn’t result in much. Nothing seems to be missing. A new latch was put on the shed and everything is secured. The police are going to come by to get the flash drive that has footage, but not much can be seen of the man in the video footage.

New Business

  • Local Government Efficiency Act
  • Sue appointed Doris Heaton , Stephanie Hart and two outside people of the library to head this committee. Doris spoke to us about the Decennial and what information the Governor is wanting    from this proclamation. It is a 6 page form to be filled out in 18 months. Doris requested  information to be filled out with her questionnaire and to be given back to Susan. She will compile all of the information and turn this in. We hope to have all of this done by the next two meetings; instead of spreading it out over 18months.

Public Comment

Henry spoke about the break-in on Sunday. He suggested possibly extending the fence to the mortuary at the funeral home to block off the walking path in the area or adding a motion light to the smaller building.

The fence addition might be 70-80 feet. We told Henry to go ahead and put a motion light on the small building and to talk to the people at the funeral home and see what they say. He will get back with us and we will proceed from there.

Debbie Clark reminded us about the dedication of the Reading Garden on Saturday, June 3rd from 1-4 pm. The Garden Gate Club will have activities to keep the kids occupied. We also have volunteers helping out with popcorn.
