  • Pat and Kathy have been up at the library helping out with the cleaning and sealing of the chairs in the Reading Garden

  • We now have temporary locks on both the men’s and women’s bathrooms. Due to vandalism recently, they will remain locked and a library worker will have to unlock a bathroom for someone when they need to use it
  • Max has been here and has sprayed the nutsedge
  • The planters have been planted and the Garden Clubs in town have taken care of the flowers out front, in the Reading Garden, around the statue , and around the sign.
  • Both water sources have been secured (at the library and at the C&J Motors location). There has been some water taken recently.
  • The Summer Reading Program will be underway. Information has been passed out and will be every Tuesday in July at 10:30.
  • $700 in donations has come in for William Auten.
  • It is time to renew the CD. We have decided to roll it over again.

    • Henry is going to work on the sefety shields for the cables
    • A little trim work still needs to be done
  • Susan showed us the Archery Competition brochure that advertises for the library
  • Discussion about getting t-shirts/polos for the library workers was discussed

Old Business:

  • No sale has occured for the items still inside the C & J Motors building. We might possibly have one in the fall when it cools off.

Personnel:

  • Susan brought up the topic of raises for the full time employeees starting July 1st. We decided to go into Executive Session later in the meeting to discuss this.
  • Janice Ligon is wanting to work more hours. IMRF will kick in for anything more than 19hours. We made a motion to allow Janice to work more hours at the library if she wants to and is able to make it work out for her situation.
  • 1st by Sue Wells                     2nd by Sara Handlin

Kimberly is wanting to know if we can provide health insurance for her. Susan is going to look into the state insurance and get with Kimberly to see what needs she has and will bring back quotes to the board. We will also discuss this in the Executive Session.

New Business

  • Ordinance 102-22 Susan mentioned that the board members neeed to be here by 5:15 at the next meeting to vote on the ordinance.
  • Kimberly brought up that her salary needs to be in Full Time instead of Full Time/Bookkeeping. We decided to remove the Bookkeeping option.
  • Kimberly also mentioned that Pam receives donations and the library gets paid for research, seling books, etc. We need to know how much is brought in with a donation, research, etc. It needs to be more specific with detailed information. It is currently listed under “Photocopy, Cards, Fax, Miscellaneous.”
  • Non-resident Fee: Susan mentioned that the non-resident fee is currently at $85.00 for a non-resident to obtain a library card. We are going to leave the fee the same rate due to the economy. Senate Bill #3497 now allows library boards to allow non-district students ages 18 and younger to get a free library card.
