BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
JUNE 14, 2021

MINUTES

 

President Sue Wells called the meeting to order at 5:38

Members Present: Debbie Clark, Brian Crisp, Pat Hollada,

& Sue Wells

Members Absent: Stephanie Hart, Chris Jerrells, & Kathy Storey

Also Present: Director Susan Stickel

Motion by Debbie Clark, seconded by Brian Crisp to approve the minutes as corrected passed. All were in favor.

Motion by Debbie Clark, seconded by Brian Crisp to approve the payment of bills passed. All were in favor.

Motion by Debbie Clark, seconded by Pat Hollada to approve the financial reports passed. All were in favor.

Librarian’s Report:

Certificates of Election were given to Sue Wells and Brian Crisp. These were prepared by the County Clerk’s Office.

The Benton Public Library Newsletter was distributed to board members.

The first Digital Summer Reading Program had 100+ registered.

Benton Illinois Genealogy Facebook has a total of 1,451 members and growing.

McCollum Electric, LLC was contacted regarding upgrades.

The grandfather clock has been repaired at no charge.

Susan reported memorials and donations for the month.

We will soon be labeling all of the plant species in the garden. Three plants are on backorder for the newest flower garden.

Henry designed metal framework and plexiglass covering for the signs in the Reading Garden.

Old Business:

Motion by Debbie Clark, seconded by Pat Hollada to now recommend face masks while in the library building passed. All were in favor.

All indoor programming to resume in September provided the state remains at the current level.

New Business:

A draft of the annual budget was presented and a brief discussion was held concerning Ordinance 102-21, the Annual Budget and Appropriations Ordinance.

There have been no closed sessions in the past six months.

Motion by Debbie Clark, seconded by Pat Hollada to participate in the Non-Resident Fee Program and offer a non-tax based discount of $27.00. Using the mathematical formula, the Out of District Fee is $112.00. Motion passed with all in favor.

Other Business:

Henry Stickel presented a model of a ship he has designed. Motion by Brian Crisp seconded by Pat Hollada to obtain a current pricing estimate for all materials and to adhere to handicap accessibility requirements passed. All were in favor. The project was tabled until all requested information is gathered.

Motion by Brian Crisp, seconded by Debbie Clark to adjourn the meeting at 7:09 PM.
