BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
MINUTES
JUNE 10, 2019

Doris Heaton called the meeting to order at 5:26 pm.

Members Present: Debbie Clark, Doris Heaton, Pat Hollada, Kathy Storey, & Sue Wells

Members Absent: Stephanie Hart and Chris Jerrells

Also Present: Director Susan Stickel

Motion by Debbie Clark, seconded by Kathy Storey to approve the May minutes passed. All were in favor.

Motion by Doris Heaton, seconded by Debbie Clark to approve the payment of bills passed. All were in favor.

Motion by Kathy Storey, seconded by Pat Hollada to approve the financial reports passed. All were in favor.

Librarian’s Report:

Maintenance:

The library building, windows, and monument sign have been power washed for the season.

Susan will be replacing the American flag that is worn and in addition is checking into getting an Illinois flag for the library.

Programming:

Susan distributed the June Calendar of events and the quarterly newsletter. She briefly talked about the agenda for the Summer Reading Program. Handouts were provided on that as well.

An employee has volunteered to start a young adult summer book club next year.

Memorials and Donations:

The semi-annual fundraiser rummage sale was $461.63. Cash donations in the amount of $90.00 were given to the library on Saturday, the 8th of June. It was requested that $20.00 be used for the Reading Garden.

Old business:

Regarding personnel, a part-time clerk position has become available. A qualified candidate was chosen from the many applications and presented by Susan. At the approval of the board, this individual will begin employment in July.

Susan provided the agenda of proposed dates she received from Michael McGuire for the Reading Garden and exterior improvements.

Ew Business:

A draft of the FY 19/20 budget was distributed to all board members.

Review of the first half year minutes of all closed sessions under the Open Meetings Act will remain sealed with a motion by Doris Heaton and seconded by Debbie Clark.

Motion by Doris Heaton, seconded by Debbie Clark to approve the non-resident card fee of $102.00 and again offer a not-tax based discount. A discount of $27.00 will be offered to those who wish to participate, beginning July 1, 2019 and ending June 30th, 2020. Motion passed with all in fvor.

There being no other business, Kathy Storey motioned,  Pat Hollada seconded to adjourn the meeting at 5:58 pm.
