Librarian’s Report:

  • The pirate ship is almost finished. Henry talked to us about the progress. Mr Hobbs is working on some things to finish it up, but these things aren’t done yet (rigging, wench, etc). Tags are being made to place on the ship to identify different parts to make it a learning experience for the kids.
  • Pirate Camp will be on July 26th. Kids will get access to the ship on this day.
  • We might have a naming contest for the ship for ages up to 8th grade.
  • The pavillion gutters have not been cleaned out yet, but the gutters on the library have.
  • There is a leak in the reading garden.
  • A date hasn’t been set for fixing the fence in the back that was hit.
  • 25 people showed up for the Summer Reading date. The next one is Space Camp and it is scheduled for July 12th at 10:30.
  • The parking lot needs sealant on it. The back portion needs to be widened. The employee portion needs to be replaced. We got a bid on it, but it was around $33,000. The library has placed an ad in the Southern Illinoisan for possible bids on the project.
