Board Meeting Minutes
November 13, 2018
President Sue Wells called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm.
Members Present: Debbie Clark, Stephanie Hart (by teleconference), Doris Heaton, Pat Hollada, Kathy Storey , and Sue Wells
Members Absent: Jake Seymour
Also Presesent: Michael McGuire, Henry Stickel & Director Susan Stickel
The Board invited Michael McGuire from Baysinger Architects to the board meeting this evening. He gave an informative presentation about the work he does and what he proposed to offer in services for the library’s outdoor project. He suggested the work be completed in three phases. In addition, he spoke regarding ADA requirements.
After thanking Mr. McGuire, the regular board meeting resumed and he left the meeting. Board member Stephanie Hart lost communication by telephone shortly before Mr McGuire ended his presentation.
Motion by Doris Heaton, seconded by Debbie Clark to move forward with Baysinger Architects. All were in favor.
Motion by Doris Heaton, seconded by Pat Hollada to approve the October board meeting minutes passed. All were in favor.
Motion by Doris Heaton, seconded by Kathy Storey to approve the payment of bills passed. All were in favor.
Motion by Doris Heaton, seconded by Kathy Storey to approve the financial reprts passed. All were in favor.
Librarian’s Report:
Susan Stickel thanked Doris Heaton for the brochure she designed to promote the Reading Garden. Susan also thanked Pat Hollada for her generous bench donation for the children’s room in the library.
Susan reported that the east sidewalk and new lighting has been installed.
She gave an update on accessibility in the front foyer. Both businessed are waiting on parts to arrive before work can begin.
The next big event being planned is the annual Christmas for kids party. Susan briefly discussed plans for the evening in December.
Interest has been shown in having an evening book club at the library. Susan will follow up on this and report progress made.
Old Business:
Motion by Doris Heaton, seconded by Pat Hollada to approve Ordinance 106-18, THe Ordinance Levying and Assessing Municipal Tax for the Benton Public Library District passed unanimously by roll call vote.
Motion by Kathy Storey, seconded by Doris Heaton to approve Ordinance 107-18 The Ordinance of Board Meeting Dates and Times passed. All were in favor.
Motion by Doris Heaton, seconded by Kathy Storey to approve Ordinance 108-18 The Annual Abatement Ordinance passed unanimously by roll call vote.
Motion by Sue Wells to adjourn at 7:29 p.m.
