Board of Trustees Meeting
September 14, 2020

Minutes

 

Vice President Chris Jerrells called the meeting to order at 5:32 pm.

Members present: Debbie Clark, Stephanie Hart, Doris Heaton, Pat Hollada, Chris Jerrells, Kathy Storey, and Sue Wells

Also Present: Director Susan Stickel

Motion by Doris Heaton, seconded by Stephanie Hart to approve the minutes of the August board meeting passed. All were in favor.

Motion by Debbie Clark, seconded by Doris Heaton to approve the payment of bills passed. All were in favor.

Motion by Debbie Clark, seconded by Kathy Storey to approve the financial reports passed. All were in favor.

Motion by Debbie Clark, seconded by Pat Hollada to appoint Susan Stickel as Election Officer passed. All were in favor.

Librarian’s Report:

The IPLAR has been completed and submitted.

Susan distributed the information regarding the Per Capita requirements.

The annual audit of the library will be October 6th.

The library’s telephone system has been upgraded. The old system had reached the end of the manufacturer’s support.

Maintenance:

Sunrise Lawn Service has prepared the lawn for the fall season.

Flags and new roping have been replaced at the front entrance of the library building.

Severin’s Lawn & Garden has once again graciously offered to trim the weeping cherry on the south lawn.

Susan requested the library purchase two waste receptacles for the front entrance and the patio area. She will be making an order soon.

The floor clock has issues and will need to be serviced off site. Susan will make the necessary arrangements.

Carpeting and tiles have been cleaned throughout the building.

Programming:

Emma Reidelberger has completed her reading challenge. Susan submitted the information to the newspaper and employee Kim Livesay posted her accomplichmnet on the library’s facebook page.

Memorials and Donations:

Susan gave report on memorials and donations.

Old business:

Reading Garden – WiFi is now available in the new Reading Garden in hopes this will benefit many school age children and the community overall.

Motion by Doris Heaton, seconded by Stephanie Hart to extend the WiFi service hours to 8:00 pm, seven days a week. All were in favor.

Plantscape completed the planting in the wooden flower bed and again sprayed in the Butterfly Garden.

The Reading Garden has been decorated for the fall season.

The Garden has seen a steady increase in attendance since the reopening of the library.

There being no new or other business, Chris Jerrells motioned, Kathy Storey seconded to adjourn the meeting at 6:08pm.
