Board of Trustees Meeting
September 13, 2021

Members Present: Debbie Clark, Brian Crisp, Pat Hollada, Sue Wells (via phone), Kathy Storey (via phone)

Absent: Sara Handlin, Stephanie Hart

Meeting called to Order: 5:33 pm by Debbie Clark

Approval of August Board Meeting Minutes

Librarian’s Report:

• The pine tree is dying in the Reading Garden and needs to be cut down. Susan will be making a call to take care of this.
• The carpet is needing to be cleaned. Susan will call about this.
• W. Electric was here to do their fall maintenance.
• The Rotary Club meeting will be held in the Reading Garden. Pat was here to clean the character chairs and Henry cleaned the tables.
• We have had a student complete the reading of 1,000 books. This student will get one of Henry’s bookshelves.
• Susan stated that we have received the Humanities Grant worth $10,000. She thinks the money could be used for a variety of projects (maybe the ship? Maybe an electronic sign?) She will check into this further.
• Other libraries have gotten money for Ipads, Chromebooks and laptops. Susan is going to check into this to find out more information.
• The mulch has been delivered and Henry has spread it 3” deep around the log.
• Sue complemented Henry on the construction of the pirate ship. We all agreed that it is looking great and he is very skilled at what he does.
• Plantscape Nursery came and sprayed again. They will return this week if needed.
• We were able to modify use/allocate funds from the parking lot to the new fencing project.
• Susan will be going on vacation. She will be gone the 15^th – 23^rd of September.

Personnel:

Debbie and Susan have not had a chance to meet about the official position and salary for Kim Livesay, but they will meet soon. Kim will officially start with us on October 1^st.

Susan is wanting to hire Whitney Ligon Muir for a position and feels she will do a great job. We all agreed on this.
