BOARD OF TRUSTEES

MINUTES OF MEETING

JUNE 10, 2015

 

The meeting was called to order by President Doris Heaton at 6:05 pm.

 

Members President: Pam Appleton, Doris Heaton, Sammy Kraft and Sue Wells
Members Absent: Stephanie Hart, Linda Kraft and Jake Seymour
Also Present: Susan Stickel, Librarian

 

Motion by Sammy Kraft, seconded by Pam Appleton to approve the minutes of the May 13,2015 passed.

 

Motion by Sue Wells, seconded by Sammy Kraft, to approve the financial statement passed.

 

The librarian’s report was given. Susan will have Lazerware attend a meeting regarding the computers in the library.
The tree has not been removed from the west lawn due to the ground being too soft for the equipment to drive on it.

 

Old Business:
Motion by Sammy Kraft, seconded by Pam Appleton, to increase the part-time employee salaries by 3% effective July 1, 2015 passed in roll call vote.

 

A tentative budget was presented. Motion by Sue Wells, seconded by Sammy Kraft to accept the tentative budget passed. Our next meeting will be July 15,2015 with a budget hearing scheduled for 5:45 pm, July 15.

 

New Business:
A slate of officers for the 2015-17 term of office was presented.
President: Doris Heaton
Treasurer: Jake Seymour
Secretary: Stephanie Hart

 

Motion by Sue Wells, seconded by Sammy Kraft to approve the slate of officers passed.

 

The minutes of the closed sessions of the Board of Trustees for the past six months were read by Sammy Kraft and Sue Wells. Motion by Sammy Kraft, seconded by Sue Wells to not publish the minutes but rather keep them closed passed.

 

Ordinance 3101-15 – Building and Maintenance: An ordinance to levy and assess a tax for the Benton Public Library District of the County of Franklin, State of Illinois for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2016 and ending June 30, 2017 was presented. Motion by Sammy Kraft, seconded by Sue Wells, to approve Ordinance 101-15 passed on roll call vote.

 

Ordinance #103-15 – Prevailing Wage: An ordinance of the Benton Public Library District ascertaining the prevailing wages for laborers, workmen and mechanics employed on public works of said Benton Public Library District was presented. Motion by Sammy Kraft, seconded by Sue Wells, to approve Ordinance 103-15 passed on roll call vote.
